On its 23rd year, Kumbira Master 2019 was officially launched with the theme: The Food Baskets of BIMP (Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines).
Kumbira is an annual culinary show and competition organized by Cagayan de Oro Hotel and Restaurant Association (COHARA). The event happened last August 14-16, 2019 at The Atrium of the Limketkai Center, Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City.
During the launch, exhibitions of food, desserts, and beverages were highlighted. Also, Boy Zugba featured their winning recipe of “Inun-unan” – a local delicacy of fish cooked in spices and local vinegar with a twist.
The Kumbira Masters 2019 featured the food baskets of the four major countries this year with the following objectives:
- Showcase and promote cuisines of Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the flavors and regional recipes of Mindanao cuisine.
- Appreciation and application of indigenous ingredients in local recipes.
- Hone culinary skills and new techniques and technologies in developing local cuisine.
- Promote skills certification to professionalize the hospitality industry.
The Kumbira 2019 also featured exhibits and cooking demonstrations, culinary and skills competitions, series of lectures and demo by experts, food-related technology and skills certifications, and promotion of local food products and other products through food tasting.
